Artist Statement:
My paintings are intuitive and emotional. With each painting I make, it is my aim to create something beautiful- visually and emotionally.
I approach the canvas with an idea or inspiration and lose myself in the process- allowing the color, texture, and mood of the painting to dictate my next step until finally the visual reflects the feeling.
Painting is the language that I best express myself in. It is the way for me to share my deepest wishes, dreams and perspectives. Music, The expanse of the desert, the ocean and the night sky move me in ways I can only articulate through this visual vocabulary.
I’m wild about color and can’t live without bold color in my life or my paintings. I paint in an expressive abstract style. My work is at once elegant and chaotic...sophisticated and relatable just like my personality.
Each painting that I create is deeply meaningful to me and completely open to interpretation. I do not desire that you understand my art but rather FEEL it.
I am so grateful to wake up every day and to create. Sharing my art with you is the one of the most incredible privileges of my life.

About Jessamine:
Jessamine Narita is a visionary artist whose paintings are inspired by the rhythms and colors of the natural world, exploring themes of identity, transformation, and emotional resonance.
A graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting (2002), Narita has lived and worked in creative hubs including Chicago, Tokyo, Santa Fe, Austin, and San Antonio. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationwide and is held in private collections internationally. Influenced by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and Helen Frankenthaler, she blends historical inspiration with a distinctly contemporary perspective, continually pushing the boundaries of expressive abstraction.
As her practice continues to evolve, Jessamine Narita remains committed to creating art that bridges emotion and experience — work that resonates beyond language and invites viewers into a shared space of feeling, reflection, and transformation.
Jessamine has over two decades experience working in galleries in every imaginable capacity—including as owner and director of Storyteller Fine Art in Santa Fe. She brings a deep understanding of the art world to her studio practice. She welcomes commissions from collectors and interior designers, and enjoys collaborating with galleries, curators, and fellow creative minds to explore new ideas and expand the possibilities of artistic expression.
